What are the steps for applying for Federal Financial Aid?

Federal, State and Institutional Funding

Steps for Financial Aid

  1. File your FAFSA: The FAFSA is available as early as October 1. This is your first step to any Federal Financial Aid. Students enrolling in the Doctor of Naprapathic Medicine program are eligible for Unsubsidized loans.
  2. Complete your Financial Aid File. You will need to submit any missing documentation required of you prior to being awarded any type of Financial Aid. Once your file is complete, you will then be awarded financial aid.
  3. View and Modify your awards: Once your financial aid eligibility has been determined, an email will be sent to you indicating your award eligibility. At this time you will be sent instructions on how to cancel, reduce, accept or otherwise modify your awards. It is also at this time that you will need to inform the Financial Aid Office if you are receiving any outside aid.
  4. Complete your Loan Requirements at studentloans.gov. New Borrowers will need to complete their Master Promissory Note and do Loan Entrance Counseling prior to receiving your loans.
  5. Disbursements of Financial Aid funds: Loan funds are usually disbursed the first week of quarter.

Non-degree Graduate Students

Non-degree Students and Financial Aid – In general Federal Regulation requires that students be admitted to a degree granting program in order to be eligible for Financial Aid. This means that Non-degree students are NOT eligible for Financial Aid. However, there are two allowable exceptions to this rule:

Non-degree students taking Pre-requisites for admission into a degree granting program

Non-degree students enrolled in a Teacher Certification program

GI Bill benefits available to those who qualify for the Doctor of Naprapathic Medicine and Master of Science in Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition.
