Yes, after completion of the DN program and then pass the National Board of Naprapathic Examiners test, the graduate can then apply for licensure from the New Mexico Medical Board. Additional background check for licensure is done by the Medical Board before license is issued.

Acceptance of credits from other schools and institutions is at the sole discretion of SUNM. A student may obtain credit for previous academic degree study but is limited to 50% of the total doctoral credit required for the degree. The course work must be relevant to the student’s program of study and equivalent in both content and degree level of graduate study. You will be required to provide official transcripts from an accredited institution prior to the program start date along with course description from the school’s catalog. Technical skills courses, including externship credit, are not transferable into the school. SUNM will evaluate prior coursework with a grade of B/3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Prior coursework must have been completed within the past seven (7) years. If transfer credits are accepted, the total number of credits to be completed as well as the cost of tuition will be reduced accordingly, based on the per credit cost of tuition. Transfer credits are awarded as credits only. Transfer grades are not included in the calculation of the grade point average (GPA). SUNM also accepts prior experiential learning as well as prior occupational experience. Acceptance of credits is at the sole discretion of SUNM. The prior experiential learning or occupational experience must be relevant to the student’s program of study and equivalent in both content and degree level of study. An applicant must provide documentation regarding prior learning (or occupational experience) prior to the program start date. Students requesting a prior learning assessment must observe the following guidelines: All requests must be received by SUNM prior to the program start date, but after the enrollment agreement has been signed and submitted, technical skills courses, including externship credit will be evaluated and assessed. SUNM has the sole discretion of accepting such courses and/or credit for prior learning or occupational experience.

SUNM’s accelerated hybrid program is 75% online, classroom classes meet on Saturdays. During the first two years, (eight quarters) you will attend two, two hour Saturday classes weekly for five of those eight quarters. You will attend three, two hour Saturday classes weekly for three of those eight quarters. During the third year, the last four quarters of the program, you are in the intern clinic. You will spend fifteen hours weekly in the clinic, which includes one three hour classroom session weekly. You will need to complete a minimum of five hundred patient treatments and fifteen patient nutritional assessments during the fifty week Intern clinic requirement.

The program is an accelerated 3 year doctoral program. Approximately thirty hours a week in coursework outside of class should be planned for. You are permitted to work during the completion of the program, but it is not recommended if possible.

The hands on classes take place on Saturdays during the first two years in order to prepare you to begin your internship. Internship requirements are to complete 750 hours over 50 weeks to treat 500 patients, while under the supervision of a licensed Naprapath.

Yes, SUNM calls it the Naprapathic Research project. You will be enrolled in quarterly classes throughout all three years, (twelve quarters) learning research methods, writing and then presenting your project.
