State Sen. Papen (D-Doña Ana) To Be Awarded Honorary
Doctor of Naprapathic Medicine Degree.
SANTA FE – The Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine (SUNM) will confer Doctor of Naprapathic Medicine degrees on its latest class of graduates on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Santa Fe Women’s Club, 1616 Old Pecos Trail.The six new doctors of Naprapathic Manual Medicine will join two previous classes in qualifying to practice the healing art of Naprapathy, a medical discipline that is increasingly being used to treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction without drugs or
surgery.
“I am proud to see these new doctors joining our profession,” said Dr. Patrick Nuzzo, founder and president of SUNM. “Naprapathic Manual Medicine has been shown to help people for whom other specialties have not been effective. We need
these talented new practitioners to provide access to the countless sufferers of musculoskeletal problems to the care that they need.”
“SUNM is also privileged to award an Honorary Doctor of Naprapathic Medicine degree to State Senator Mary Kay Papen, President Pro Tempore of the New Mexico Senate,” Dr. Nuzzo said. “Senator Papen is a strong supporter of Naprapathic
Manual Medicine and her support was instrumental in the establishment of professional licensing for Naprapathic doctors in the State of New Mexico.”
Senator Papen has been and continues to be, after 17 very productive years in the Round House, a powerful legislative voice in support of education and training to bring New Mexicans the skills and professions the state needs in the 21st century.
The founding of Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine is a result of requests made by several state Legislators to bring a school of Naprapathic Medicine to New Mexico, after the Naprapathic Practice Act was passed and signed into law by
Governor Bill Richardson.
The Act granted licensure in New Mexico to professional
practitioners of Naprapathic Manual Medicine. SUNM and its doctoral program, whose campus is at the corner of Butolph Road and St. Michael’s Drive in Santa Fe, is the fulfillment of those requests.
With this third class, SUNM will have graduated 12 new doctors qualified to practice Naprapathic Manual Medicine.
The Commencement ceremony will take place in the Auditorium of the Women’s Club at 2 p.m.
